What is your name?
Mrs. Landeen

What brought you to Help the Children?

My husband has had several strokes and our medical bills were increasing monthly. I couldn’t afford to feed my grandchildren I am responsible for. I am dependent on social security and couldn’t stretch my money for groceries. Here we are able to select fresh food and hygiene products just like a regular supermarket. It ia a wonderful place the volunteer staff helps you and remembers you by name and asks how I am doing. They really care about me and my family. It’s a wonderful place they have clothes, and shoes and toys for kids. Even the new volunteer staff knows who I am. I can come here and it’s so uplifting, to be able to shop and have somebody to pray with that genuinely cares about you.

What is your name?
Michelle Young

What brought you to Help the Children?
I am originally from Santa Clarita but because of layoffs I had to move to Texas for work. I am back now and need help.

How does Help the Children help you?

I can come here and have someone pray with me and shop for food.

Why would you refer people to Help the Children?

Because people need a little help. This is not like government food pantry’s …they don’t just give you a bag of food and send you on your way. Volunteers ask how you are doing and really care about you. They care about how you are making it out there in life.

What does Help the Children mean to you?
It’s Christian based and that’s rare, the government has taken “God “ out of our schools but they can’t take “God” out of our charities!  Help the Children are helping where nobody else is.

What is your name?
Escalante Miguel

What brought you to Help the Children?
I haven’t been able to find a job in over 14 months. I heard about HTC through a friend.

I am able to eat regularly.

Why would you refer people to Help the Children?
Yes I have referred 3 people who are in the same situation I am in.

What does Help the Children mean to you?
I feel God is in this place. I can’t go into a market and ask for food and have them give it to me. HTC is doing god’s work and goes to stores and brings it to one location and stocks shelves and allows us to come and shop. How else could I provide for my family with this much food without working. This is helping me until I can get back on my feet again. This is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, happy place to be in.

What is your name?
Judy Thorne

What brought you to Help the Children?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I couldn’t cover my medical bills and buy food.

How does Help the Children help you?

It allows me to receive nutritionally balanced food for my medical needs and requirements.

Why would you refer people to Help the Children?

This is the “BEST” food distribution facility in all of Santa Clarita. It’s the cleanest, most friendly, and people really care about me and how I am doing.

What does Help the Children mean to you?

Living, and serving people who really need it. Life is so much harder when you can see and hear you kids stomachs rumble from hunger. I can skip meals but it’s hard to see my kids go hungry.
