PROJECT HELP HAITI | EARTHQUAKE

Haiti Earthquake Disaster On January 12, 2010, the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that caused immeasurable, life-changing damage to over 9 million Haitians, and approximately 40,000-45,000 Americans, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is being deemed the worst earthquake disaster in Haiti since 1770. And the destruction did not end there, the aftershocks continued to cause increased damage to the already devastated region.

Below details our ongoing Help Haiti mission:

You can still help Haiti:

Help the Children sent sea-cargo containers filled with food, bottled water, clothing, and medical supplies to Haiti, coordinated from our distribution facility in Los Angeles. We partnered with other relief organizations to ensure the containers arrive safely to Haiti and the items are distributed to the needy victims of this devastating tragedy. Help the Children also sent a medical team to Haiti, during the first week of February 2010.

  • Food and Funding Drive – Organizations are having food drives collecting canned goods (such as vegetables, Tuna, chicken, Spam) pasta, small bags of sugar, rice, and beans. Help the Children provides the food boxes for the organization so that a personal message can be written on the box for the family who will receive it in Haiti. We are requesting that each box contain a check for $5.00 to help offset the cost of shipping the container to Haiti.
  • Fundraisers – Our fundraising goal is $50,000 in hopes of sending 5 containers in the immediate future. Organizations are holding fundraisers such as car washes, bake sales, etc., to help pay for the shipping costs of the containers and to assist with the cost of sending the medical team to Haiti, in February, to help provide much needed medical care.
  • Donations – In addition to food, we are accepting donations of clothing and shoes, for every age group.

Along with your contributions, the most important help you can provide is prayer for the many people who are not sure where their loved ones are, who are suddenly left alone, who no longer have a home, who are lost and do not know where to turn for help. Time is critical and you can help make a difference. Fill out the donate form and help save a life now. We will continue to provide regular updates for you on our website. A most sincere, "Thank you," for your caring and support as the devastation in Haiti continues.

January 15, 2010 - Join the Help Haiti Relief Efforts -The past few days have been catastrophic for the people of Haiti as well as their loved ones, friends, and well-wishers around the world. You’ve all heard the stories from the people who are suffering, you’ve seen the devastation in the region, and have most likely asked yourself what can I do to help?

January 21, 2010 - Rancho Palos Verdes Helps Haiti - The neighborhood of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, came together to gather several clothing items, such as blankets and clothes for all age groups, to be sent to Haiti for the Help the Children disaster relief efforts. Lead by Georgina McGovern, and Michelle and Erick Witt, families, including children got involved to help improve the quality of life of the needy people who are still experiencing so much suffering as a result of the horrible earthquake just a short time ago. The items they've collected will be sent on the next container shipment, which will be leaving the week-of January 26, 2010. THANK YOU to the community of Rancho Palos Verdes for partnering with Help the Children in support of our Haiti Disaster Relief efforts!

January 28, 2010 - GO Ministries Steps Up to Help Haiti - We found a way go get relief supplies to Haiti. Closed ports, ruined roads, and downed air traffic control towers, haven't stopped us. We teamed up with GO Ministries in the Dominican Republic and our shipments of water, food, and medicine are being delivered to the people of Haiti right now. We have so far sent 40,000 pounds of food water and medicines, valued at over $350,000. Haitians will need ongoing support, so raising money to send more supplies is at the forefront of our plan. The cost of shipping a full container of supplies, loaded with over $200,000 worth of goods, is $5,000. Our goal is to raise $40,000 and send at least 8 more containers to Haiti. Haiti is on the minds of many and a definite urgent relief mission, but we also ask that everyone remember all of the international and local needs that exist. Become a MONTHLY partner, donate above and beyond, and help rescue God's little ones today.

February 3, 2010 - UPDATE - Haiti Disaster Relief Efforts - We are still collecting food, water, and medicine for the Haiti victims. We now have 8 full containers of relief supplies in our warehouse ready to be shipped, including 5 containers of water, 30 pallets of food boxes, and 20 pallets of medicines. One hundred percent of our Haiti donations go to Haiti. This new shipment of supplies will be sent through the Dominican Republic and to the inland area of Port au Prince.

May 17, 2010 - Remember Haiti - With the ground no longer shaking, the crumbling structures settled, and the barrage of media attention halted, Haiti could soon be forgotten.  It is our intention here at Help the Children to keep Haiti Help in the news.  Survivors still need provisions, shelter, and medical help.  We have two more shipments of food, water, and supplies ready to go.  Please help us bring continued disaster relief to the people of Haiti.  We thank you for your time in prayer, your donations, and your genuine interest in humanity.

March 22, 2010 - Thank You For Haiti Help - All of us at Help the Children want to extend our gratitude to the churches, schools, and organizations who are supporting our Haiti relief efforts.  Coming together is making a huge difference in the amount of aid being sent to the Haiti earthquake survivors.  The commitment and generosity of the following groups is greatly appreciated:
