Update Letter (Kenya Girls School)

June 2009

We thank our God for every remembrance of you, because at a time of great afflictions, you were willing to share with us so generously (2 Corinthians 8:1-5). It is always amazing for me to see the love of God working among the saints all over the world, regardless of race, and colour.

Truly we are of one faith, one baptism and one Lord. We honour and praise His holy Name Amen.

To date we have 161 students and all of them are from different situations. Some are total orphans, others partial orphans, the others are from single parents while others have both parents but from difficult situations. We have a few whose parents are able to pay little which helps a great deal in running the centre. For each of you and them we praise our Lord.

As you saw in our last letter which was written by Shadrack my husband, that situation in this part of the country stays the same. For those of you who may not have read of you who may not have read the letter, I want to explain that the country has suffered a great deal due to the post election violence, which is made worse by the prolonged drought. We are now three years without harvest. And as you know Kenya depends on Agriculture for its food. To be exact our last harvest was in January/February 2007. Since then we have missed rain for six seasons. This means that people are hungry, no money to pay fees or buy food. This is why we are so happy that you have been very kind to us by helping the school to get food and pay bills.

Some of you have been very willing to help us to renovate the Centre; so that we might attract more paying students to join our school may you be blessed richly.

Academically the school is producing candidates who are joining institutions of higher learning and others have been able to join colleges who train them to be self employed like beauticians, Carpenters, Masons etc.

We continue to tell the students about the love of God and majority have submitted to Christ. We honour Him for His wonders and love. He has promised that He will not leave us and we believe it fully.

May the Lord bless you richly.

Shad and Esther Muiu.
