I just want to share some exciting news about the new hospital Help the Children is building in Malacatancito, Guatemala. There are more than 200,000 men, women, and children currently living in this Guatemala village with NO hospital at all. They have a small clinic where a doctor comes every Monday for 4 hours. Can you imagine not being able to see a doctor for months about a problem that is threatening your life?

We are so blessed to live here in the United States with our well-trained doctors and high quality hospital facilities. I remember when I hurt my foot and went down to urgent care to receive medical attention. I left with a brace on my ankle and medication to reduce the swelling. I was good as new in three days.

Here is the problem, when someone gets hurt in Malacatancito it's an hour and a half drive to the nearest medical facility. If someone is seriously hurt they will not make it to the hospital. They are going to die.

At Help the Children we find that to be unacceptable. Children dying just because of being poor! We can do something about that and we are doing something right now. We were given 8 acres to build a hospital for this village of people who need medical attention. We have met with the Congressman in this area and have developed a team to build this hospital that will save lives long after we are dead and gone.

I am asking for your help. We need 4,000 people to commit to $20 a month for only 6 months, totaling $120. With this amount we would raise $480,000 and that will finish this entire 30,000 square foot hospital. Just think, for twenty dollars a month for only six months, you have helped create this hospital that will provide medical care to thousands of needy children and their families throughout Northern Guatemala. Would you please pray and ask the Lord what can you do to help build this hospital? Will you commit to praying for this hospital and that children will be saved?

This is an awesome plan. I never really consider the idea that if i get hurt, i can go to the doctor.

Details about how our donations will be used is much appreciated. It's always reassuring to know where money is going and exactly how it will be spent. The new Guatemala hospital...what an opportunity! Making it possible for people to receive medical care, which is currently nonexistent, sounds like a great way to start helping.

Everything is on schedule and as long as we continue to remain on schedule we should be done within 6 months.

How unbelievable that 20 dollars a month can go so far when the Lord blesses it! It's so encouraging to dream about the hospital continuing to thrive long after I am gone!
