Faith
I am a fourteen year old girl. My name is Faith Wanjiru Mburu. I live in Mombasa at a place called Ukunda. My parents are Mr and Mrs Mburu. My mum is a Kamba while my dad is a kikuyu. I have one sister. My hobbies are travelling, reading story books, listening to music and singing. I am in class eight.
During the last election (2007) we were very much affected. We had a very big shop but all the things were taken and it was burnt down. At work, my father was stopped because there were no tourists. My parents had a hard task, first they had to pay for my sister and I school fees, pay a loan which my mum had taken from Kenya Women finance and pay for the electricity and the house. At school I used to be send home everyday because I had not paid my school fees. My sister too. We had to sell some of our things so that we may be able to get money for food. I managed to finish my K.C.P.E (the last exam you do when you are in class eight).
I never got good grades because I missed most of my studies. When December reached, my dad went to work. We started paying all our debts. We thought things were going to be fine and normal, but we were wrong, where my dad used to work was burnt down by some workers. When my mum got the news she was shocked because she had not finished paying her loan and my sisters school fees. They started asking for help from other people.
They asked my uncle if I could go and stay there with them, he accepted and found for me this school and brought me, he is a pastor and his daughter is sponsored here. He is now looking for a place where my parents and my sister would stay.
Yours faithfully,
FAITH WANJIRU MBURU
